On Sept 12th 2011, the day after the 10 year anniversary of 9/11, the Quakertown Band performed a benefit concert to commemorate the victims and fallen heroes of that tragic event. The concert was held at Bethel Baptist Church in Sellersville, PA and the band delivered an emotional performance to a packed house. They played pieces of patriotism and thankfulness, songs of sorrow and longing, melodies of heroism and strength... and it was very powerful and moving. You could see plenty of audience members struggling to hold back their tears as they reflected on those horrible events of a decade ago.
There was also a short presentation by local artist Steve Tobin, about his Trinity Root sculpture which resides at Ground Zero. Not only was the concert magnificantly performed, but from the offering taken during intermission, the concert raised a much needed $650 for the Quakertown Food Bank.
The band was so appreciative to be involved in this commemorative event, that all the musicians agreed to play the concert for free, so that even more money could go to the food bank, and help those who really need it. It was, all in all, a beautiful evening of music and memories that was a signifcant blessing to the audience and performers alike.
